Library card
You need a library card to borrow library materials. It is free of charge. To receive one you need to present a valid ID. Children may receive their own library card from the year they turn six years old.
If you are under 18 you don’t have to present ID but you need to have your parent or guardian with you or a signed library card agreement.
Obligations as a member of the library
Your library card is a personal document and it is non-transferrable, only you may use it. You are responsible for:
- everything that is borrowed with the card
- that borrowed materials are safely returned at any of the Göta libraries, i.e. the municipal libraries of Östergötland and Tranås
- that borrowed materials are returned in due time and in undamaged condition
- paying any overtime charges within two months of the debt being incurred
- that lost or damaged materials are replaced in accordance with the library’s rates
- immediately notifying any Göta library in case of losing your card. To receive a new library card you need to
present valid ID - keeping informed of current terms and conditions for borrowing
Blocked library card
The card will be blocked if the cardholder has a debt of 150 kr or more and/or when a second claim for overdue material is sent. Unpaid debts go to debt collection.
Parents or guardians are responsible for children under the age of 18.
Cardholder’s liability
Please note that the library is not responsible for any damage that might occur to your private equipment when using
borrowed media, such as CDs, CD-ROMs and DVDs.
